COVID Protocols

We are very excited to be welcoming everyone back to CrossFit Vernon. Here is an outline of the new protocols you can expect to follow while in the gym during the ‘new normal’.
Right now we are trying to cover all of our bases and are hoping that many of these procedures can be lifted as we get to understand more about the disease we are fighting. Until then we appreciate your support and respect for our business and practices.

CROSSFIT VERNON COVID-19 OPERATING PLAN. PHASE 1: MAY 25 – TBA

FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES THAT ARE CLOSED OR WILL BE UNAVAILABLE TO MEMBERS

  • Change rooms and showers; bathrooms will be available for use.
  • Water cooler
  • Staff kitchen
  • Upstairs mezzanine
  • Athlete common areas; cubbies and surrounding space and entrance
  • Main door entrance; Please enter through one of the large bay doors
  • Athlete whiteboards and markers
  • Air bikes, rowers, and ski ergs
  • Chalk 
  • As the upstairs mezzanine is closed, we ask that children under the age of 10 not be brought to the gym.

RESERVING CLASS TIMES

  • Classes must be reserved through Zen Planner.
  • You may reserve classes from up to 7 days in advance until the start of class. 
  • You may cancel your reservations up to 8 hours prior to the start of class. However, if you fail to make the cancellation deadline and are experiencing symptoms you may cancel by contacting Jeremy or Deanna via phone or email.
  • Our priority is in keeping our space as a safe place to be which is why we will not be implementing any penalties for missed reservations. However, if it is determined by CrossFit Vernon staff that the reservation system is being abused then your member privileges may be revoked. 
  • Only monthly membership holders will be accepted at this time. No drop-ins.
  • Retail sales will be on account only. We will not be accepting cash, credit, or debit card transactions at this time.

PRE-CLASS PROTOCOLS

  • Members may arrive for your class as early as 15 minutes before the scheduled start of class.
  • Members will be required to wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the facility.
  • Arrive with everything you may need for training that day.
  • Workouts will be posted the night before at 7:30 PM, daily.
  • Do not arrive to the gym in the same vehicle as anyone who is not part of your household.

CLASS PROTOCOLS

  • Members must, at all times abide by the physical distancing requirements of at least 2 meters.
  • Sharing of equipment is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to: barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, pull-up bars, bumper plates, skipping ropes, boxes, rowers.
  • Follow and comply with signage posted throughout the gym.
  • We will observe a ‘clean as you go’ policy which means any equipment used must be cleaned before it is put away. This includes after warm-ups or technique sessions.

POST CLASS PROTOCOLS

  • All equipment is to be cleaned and sanitized before being put away.
  • After the conclusion of your class, you will have up to 15 minutes to leave before the next class arrives.

OPEN GYM PROTOCOLS

  • Open gym time slots must be reserved through the Zen Planner App.
  • Open gym reservations will be for the entire duration of the Open Gym period.
  • All of the previous rules outlined for pre-class, class, and post-class protocols apply during Open Gym.

GENERAL PROTOCOLS

  • Physical distancing requirements and other appropriate COVID-19 guidelines will be monitored by staff.
  • Do not violate the physical distancing requirements of 2 meters when dealing with staff.
  • Access to CrossFit Vernon is not permitted for members who are in self-isolation as a result of travel on mass transit outside of the Okanagan (7 days), international travel (14 days), or for anyone who has been exposed to a known or potential case of COVID-19 (14 days).
  • Do not come to the gym if you are feeling sick or unwell.
  • No congregating or lingering inside or outside the gym before or after classes.
